Wrong. Successful content writers know that without a standout title, you have little chance of hooking readers. If your title is dull, confusing, or vague, it won’t matter how fantastic your content is—readers will simply move on to the next link that catches their attention and your blog will languish in obscurity.

Well-written titles force casual web surfers to notice your site. Think of it as your shot at a stellar first impression. It takes only seconds for a potential visitor to decide if they’re going to click on your link or if they’re going to continue scrolling through the search results. A strong title not only gets visitors to check out your blog entry, but encourages them to take a look at past entries and explore your web site.

Writing a captivating title involves more than just summarizing what your post is about. When you create a title you must consider both the reader and the search engines. With a bit of practice, you’ll be able to hit right balance with copy that appeals to both.

Never forget that your blog is meant to be read and understood by actual human beings. First and foremost you must make sure that you cover topics that are interesting and relevant to your audience’s needs. Put yourself in your readers’ place when you develop your next title. If your headline wouldn’t encourage you to read the rest of the piece, then it’s time to start over. You must do more than convince people to read your article—it’s important that the finished product delivers on the expectations created by your title.

Make sure your title lets the reader know what the article is about, but also convinces him that the information that follows is something that can’t be missed. Titles that appeal to the reader work well in conjunction with social media like Facebook and Twitter, where people share striking items with their friends. To grab the attention of today’s savvy internet user, be sure that you’re to-the-point, witty, and succinct.

To ensure you please the Search engines, you’ll want to integrate your target keywords. Keyword-rich headings are great for site indexing, but may turn off potential readers if you overdo it. The trick is to use one or two terms that fit naturally with the topic you are covering and save your other selected phrases for a different piece. By highlighting a keyword at the top of your piece, you increase the likelihood of your site being indexed for that term by the search engine’s indexing spiders.

Small businesses and bloggers are taking advantage of their Internet assets to earn income in relation to the content that they produce. Let’s say for example you’re a blogger that is passionate about article writing. While those articles may not directly produce an income advertising can. You may think that you’re not into advertising. While this may be true, that doesn’t mean that other individuals aren’t interested in advertising on your blog or site. After all, if you write about certain products why wouldn’t the vendors of those products or services advertise on your site?

Google’s AdSense provides a way for Internet business of all niches to earn income based off of advertisements displayed on their website. The advertisements come from other companies seeking web space to display their offers on. Does this mean that random advertisements for completely unrelated products will be displayed alongside your content? Absolutely not. All advertisements that proceed from AdSense are relevant and contextual. In other words the advertisements have something to do with the content you produce.

In addition to the ads being relevant to your content, you’re completely in control of who can advertise on your site. Not only this, but you can customize the look and feel of the advertisements so that it falls in line with the vibe of your site. Think about it: if you had a house and allowed guests in, they’d have to follow the house rules. AdSense advertisements are just like house guests: they follow your rules and help keep your branding intact. If you have a loyal following of readers for your content, introducing ads can be off putting. Why make your content writing unattractive with obtrusive ads? The AdSense system allows you to strike a balance between your content and how your ads are displayed.

Ultimately Adsense provides a way to make money off of your published content by serving up targeted ads on your site. The advertisers seeking to use your space are ultimately looking for a refferal source for their business. These ads are not competition for your site. The provide you with compensation for being an Internet resource.

You may be a writer, blogger, or online entrepreneur. You may be extremely good at what you do. But how do you get noticed online? Being noticed gets you business. In the Internet arena there is an array of weapons that will get you the attention that will allow you to succeed in online business. Google Webmaster tools will provide you with the appropriate arsenal to get your content writing noticed by Internet users seeking out information.

Google’s webmaster tools are aimed at one thing: providing you with detailed reports about your page’s visibility on Google. In order for Google or any other search engine to display your site it needs to become familiar with it first. This is called crawling. In other words a search engine has to appraise your site before it can rank its relevancy in comparison to a search query. After Google crawls your site it indexes all of the words on your site as well as their location. This allows the search engine to compare a search query to your page to determine if it’s appropriate to display in its search results.

If you’re an internet entrepreneur that engages in blog post writing; webmaster tools can help you manage multiple sites. Google will allow you to add up to one thousand sites on this particular service. It should be mentioned that ownership of your site must be verified. Because of the technical aspects of this, consulting with a professional can be of significant importance. Once all technical aspects have been seen to, the generated reports will give you all of the necessary information at a glance.

Whenever you’re putting a product or content on the Internet, you want to know how you’re doing.Webmaster tools provides instant feedback on your site and its visibility. Its a convenient way of knowing how to make your site more appealing to search engines. With its diagnostics, help center, and generated html for your specific needs, it’s a hard tool to beat. Don’t leave your visibility to chance: start using Google Webmaster.

After all of the effort you’ve poured into content writing, one of the biggest questions you must ask yourself is if your material is getting noticed or not. Are you seeing visitors to your site? If so, how did they arrive there and, more importantly, what were the items that they clicked on. Understanding the key interests of the visitors viewing your site will help you provide better content. If you’re in the business of selling a service, it will help you better understand and subsequently meet the needs of your audience. Google Analytics provides the tools to answer all of these questions.

It isn’t enough to have information based on an isolated incident. What you should be concerned with is the overall trend regarding the views that your content receives. This type of feedback will allow you to consistently target the most profitable areas of your site. Look at it this way: metrics will help you avoid scattering your energy; and focus your efforts. It’s better to focus on a specific need to address as opposed to tackling too many items at once. Another way in which Analytics can help you is by informing you of your ROI.

Return on investment is an important consideration when it comes to online marketing. All effort is not without a cost somewhere in the production line. Do your results justify the expenses that you incur with your online business? Having this information is a valid indicator of the health of your online business. If you’re pouring in more money than you’re earning on your article writing, it’s time for a change of strategy. That can’t happen however, without the appropriate metrics to justify such a decision.

Ultimately Analytics show you the health of your business. Not only this, it will show you the ways in which you can improve it. Simple changes to your online marketing can sometimes yield the biggest results. Content, even though it is intellectual property, is still costly from a time and effort perspective. Make sure that your business thrives with the appripriate metrics to help guide your all important business decisions.

However, it’s too big to miss and very inexpensive. Twitter — with over 1 billion Tweets gushing into the timelines (tweet streams) of their users — is getting bigger by the day. How should you increase your follower base on Twitter smartly, strategically and for the long term? Here are four simple but largely effective ways to build a robust list of followers for a long time to come:

Follow generously; it will all come back to you

If you want something, you’ll first have to find a way to give. Get into the habit of following people who are relevant to your niche. For every business or niche, there are celebrity Twitter users, thought leaders, and power users. Make it a point to search for them, find them and follow them. Incorporate a schedule to follow as many people as you can. The key here is to do it intelligently and consistently, for a long time to come. Over time, those who you follow will notice and follow you back. You can choose to ‘unfollow’ those who don’t provide much value or indulge in spam later.

If you have to tweet, do it loaded with value

When you set out to write articles (or outsource this function altogether), you always focus on value. Look for article writing, blogs and reports that are loaded with information and always aim to solve common problems your readers (or customers) face. Similarly, pack as much information, inspiration or motivation within your 140 characters allowed for a tweet. You can even share third party links or information produced by others in your industry – all of this is for providing value to your followers.

Think creative, weave in user names

On Twitter, there are some nifty ways you can get others to notice you. Thanks to a unique function called “@Mention”, you will always know who is talking about you. Similarly, when you mention others they get to notice that. Find a way to weave in their user names at least once a week at least or as much as you can without coming across as too aggressive. Some of the usual ways of doing that include:

•	#FF (Follow Friday) – make a list of your most interesting followers and leave a tweet recommending others to follow.
•	Thank your new followers followed by a list of their user names
•	Every now and then, make a list of “awesome people to follow” and announce it with a tweet.
•	‘Retweet’ others’ tweets as much as you can.
•
Use automation where you can

It takes plenty of time and effort to follow as many people as you can, ‘retweet’ tweets of other users, reply to other Twitter users, and to keep on top of all the information out there. If you had to do everything manually, it would cost you time that could have been spent better elsewhere.

There are plenty of tools available, thankfully, that you can use to automate your scheduled posts, vet new followers (or even ignore/reject them), automatically dispense direct welcome messages to your new followers and plenty of other things you need to do to keep your Twitter account active. Socialoomph.com, tweetdeck, twellow.com are all tools you can use easily and all of these are free. When you successfully automate as much of your Twitter activity as possible, you can look to provide more value, engage with other Twitter users meaningfully and expand your follower base strategically.

The Internet is for information and content powers all the information available online. As such, any individual blogger or a business online understands the importance of professional content writers and the role they play in the overall business strategy. Freelance content writers are a great way to leverage your content production efforts. However, it isn’t easy to find good writers, manage them and get them to work for you. Here are some realities you must face:

Find the golden nuggets; ignore the rest

Virtually almost everyone who can read and write English thinks that content writing is a possible vocation that they can take up. As a result, you have more content writers on the Internet than ever and the number keeps growing. The key to finding good writers is to search continuously, which requires you to post in forums, put out project briefs, rummage through hundreds of proposals, analyze each proposal and portfolio of respective writers, and finally start with a small trial project to see how writers perform. Find these golden nuggets and discard everyone else.

It takes plenty of time and work to get your team in shape

The process of finding good content writers – as mentioned above – requires your sweat and blood for a long time until you create your team of highly skilled, competent and experienced writers. Most people give it up at the analysis and the process of prospecting writers. It just seems to be too much of an iterative process. Further, the time it takes to build a strong reliable team just seems to sap at the energy and enthusiasm business owners start out with.

It’s all about active management

Once you have your team in place, the question of collaboration comes up. You will be required to manage your writers remotely by using a pile of tools available. Since the work happens remotely, the speed with which you communicate with your content writers becomes important. Swift replies and carefully drafted emails are an essential part of your day. You will also need a huge reservoir of patience while dealing with plenty of blocks that will come your way while managing your writers. Managing your writers is the same as managing any normal team in the offline world; work with empathy, understanding, patience, efficiency, and lead with example.

Always understand your Freelance Writers’ view points

While it’s true that you have an upper hand in this economic relationship since you are the client, approach with an understanding of how the freelance writing business works. For instance, content writers ask for an advance or require you to fund an escrow account to allow them to begin work. Content writers do this to secure their funds from clients – work with them and facilitate this process. While briefing your writers, send out focused and detailed project briefings, put out your instructions clearly in writing and make it easy for them to work with you.

That’s a lot of work to do. Here at Content and Article Writing, we emphasize the building blocks for content creation to all of our writers. Here are four essential components that we feel make our writing irresistible and effective:

Impeccable and Apt Language

There are no excuses for writing out pale and rehashed content. It doesn’t do you good to produce content that’s trite, predictable, fluffy and meaningless either. Further, you just can’t survive with content written with shoddy use of language, vocabulary and style. Depending on the readers, the language should be apt and impeccable. Simple words will do, but the use has to be correct. The grammar, syntax and spellings have to be intact.

Shine, Shock, Inform or Entertain

Bland content is for the spineless. If you want to make your content work for you, bring out the bold in you. Write out content that shines through, shocks, entertains or at least informs. No matter what you intend to do with your content, put in all the effort to make your content outstanding and focused. If your content isn’t doing its job, there’s really nothing much else you can do to pump up your conversions or make things happen for your business.

Faultless research

Content writing efforts without adequate research is like taking off on a marathon race without ever moving a limb previously. Research adds credibility to your content and makes sure you are communicating facts to your readers. Also, when content writing takes research as its base, your writing is more confident. Blog writing, by default, has another added benefit thanks to your research. You could use the links leading to your research within the blog post while pointing to this material. This adds further link juice to your content.

An undulating Focus on Depth

When you skirt with information while writing out content, you are not operating from the power of depth. Write articles, blog posts, or reports based on research as mentioned before. Illustrate with examples, use charts and graphs generously, go deep into your content and bring out ideas or angles never touched before. All of this adds value to your article and that’s exactly what your readers are looking for. Since there’s too much of peripheral information on the Internet, your readers will benefit from your deep insights and will gain tremendous value from it.

A cross between article submissions and new content pages, the microsite gives you the best of both worlds and provides you with another domain that you can use to promote your main site or market as a separate entity. Add a blog to your microsite, use anchor text to link it to your main website, and you’ll see your page rank improve literally overnight.

If you want to set up a microsite on your own it’s really not all that difficult. Purchase a domain from your hosting company that contains the keywords you want to focus on. For instance, if you own a pet supply company called “Harry’s Pet Supplies” that is based in Reseda, California, try buying the domain “HarrysResedaPetSupplies.com”. No one is going to search for Harry if they don’t know you personally, but local search engines will automatically default a local town listing to the top of Page One if someone searches for “pet supplies in Reseda”. You can keep your main domain, but connect the microsite to it using anchor text links or a contact box that goes to your main email.

Once you’re purchased the domain, use one of the many free user-friendly content management programs to create some pages and a blog. WordPress is great for this. You can set up a basic four-page site (Home, About, Services, Contact) in under an hour once you get familiar with the software. Create a fifth page titled “Blog” and leave it blank until you write some posts. To make it all look professional, pick a theme in the “Appearance” menu and then go to “Settings” and change your “Read” setting to “Home” for a static landing page for visitors and “Blog” for posts. Once that’s done, you’re ready to start site building.

With WordPress and most other content management systems for blog sites, you can schedule posts to publish on future dates. Once your microsite is complete, write five posts using keywords relative to your industry and schedule them to publish once a week for the next five weeks. Link each post to an internal page on your main website using anchor text. Each of the posts should bring you about fifty new backlinks that will be indexed by Google within seven days. More links equals better page position, so you will have just done what search engine optimization firms charge thousands of dollars a month to do for you. Pretty cool, huh?

It’s that simple. If you have a few hours to play with the WordPress software, you can create microsites that look professional and stand on their own. If you’re not a writer, hire a content writing service to create the pages for you. Some even specialize in microsites. Build as many as you like. Even if you sell or close your company at some point, you can always sell the domains or lease them out. I’ll cover that in another article, so make sure you check back here frequently.
